Several new developments at KnK have kept us busy. Among the new products are 3 new models of go karts and a trailer to haul them around to circuits, to farm houses and to adventure trails.

The KnK Mudslinger SR-III will now have a new stable mate, the KnK Sidewinder SR-II.

Go karting in India is maturing, tracks are looking for a more modern and functional operation to improve safety and the overall appeal of their facilities, in their efforts to meet the expectations of today’s demanding clientele.

We at KnK Karts have been busy over the last two months developing a brand new range of Go Karts keeping in mind the development that we are witnessing in this field. Looking ahead to the next year and in preparation for the introduction of a new range of KnK Karts for 2018, has kept us occupied.

The third generation of the popular KnK Mudslinger, the SR-III is a new offering from KnK for the off–road buff.

The world is going Off-Road! Year on year we are seeing an increasing interest towards riding trails. “Adventure” is the name of the game. The fraternity looking at exploring new trails and tracks, is experiencing a level of popularity never witnessed before.

Development at KnK never stops. We have our finger on the pulse of requirements and difficulties that are faced by the Go Karting community at all times. This thinking and approach are evident in every KnK product manufactured.

The most discussed topic in our country today is the matter concerning demonetization. Several aspects of our lives are expected to be affected by the bold and practical step taken by the Indian government. Businesses will be affected in operations, planning, strategies at all.

Addressing the growing concern towards the safety of Gokarts used at amusement and entertainment gokarting centers, the CIK-FIA, the body that governs the sports of gokart racing realized the necessity to introduce a set of guidelines for manufactures so that the gokarts used at such facilities provided patrons and guests a safer environment to enjoy the excitement and thrills of rental karting.

The Genesis series of karts are very popular and have been in production since the year 2000.

At the outset, many thanks for the overwhelming response to the Trailblazer, from readers of Straight Forward last month. Several prospective Trailblazers are expecting to offer the thrill of trailblazing at different parts of the country.

It has been a while since we sent out our last newsletter. At KnK Karts, we have been busy with developing what has always been a great kart, into a better one. This attention to detail is reflected across the product line and we will in time, bring you the details of these different models.

As reported in our February 2013 newsletter, KnK Australia is gearing up for the upcoming season of the Prokart Endurance Series.

KnK Baby – A kart designed for the little kart driver, the KnK Baby is ideally suited for drivers between the ages of 4 and 7 years.

Australia – May 19th & 20th, 2012 – Warwick International raceway – Guy Tingey and his boys do it again!! RPM KnK finish ahead of Nexus KnK and MF-Teck KnK . All three teams on the 588th lap, which speaks volumes for team and kart consistency.

England – April 14 & 15, 2012 - Ellough Park Raceway - Roger Smith, privateer, memorable weekend of racing when he raced his KnK Dominator TE in its maiden race in England. A remarkable result for him, his first race in his KnK Dominator TE.

A KnK blitz - Saturday March 10 brought 20 of the best endurance karting teams in Australia together to contest Round 1 of the 2012 Queensland ProKart Endurance Karting Championship at Willowbank Raceway, near Ipswich, Queensland.

The KnK Genesis Pro received its final touches and deliveries will start early 2011 for this compact and well-mannered fun-to-drive rental pro kart.

We took the KnK Annihilator out to see how the chassis reacted to changes from the multiple combinations that permit it to go from very soft to rigid with various levels in between.

The KnK Genesis is an economy model of the popular Genesis Hire kart.This “no frills” Hire kart model is just what the small budget rental tracks have been on the search for.

KnK has developed the all-new Annihilator for the Shifter class, still in its prototype stage it will be extensively tested prior to being introduced in 2011.

The KnK Genesis SKX sees some changes, which have made an already great hire kart package even better.

Jonathon Treadwell, competing in Honda Senior raced his KnK JL302 to victory.

A small family entertainment facility has opened in Kanpur,India, named A1. The karting facility at A1 will offer patrons drives in The KnK Prodigy (kid kart for drivers between 5 ~ 7 years), KnK Colt (cadet class drivers 8 to 12 years) and the popular KnK Genesis IS and KnK Duet (two-seat kart).

Moto GP looks set to introduce a fresh set of regulations in 2011 and an increase in engine capacity, possibly a year ahead of the originally planned date. The reason might be that it is starting to get too exciting and so far the number of injuries has been low!!!!

Venues and dates are important – selecting the right venues must have taken a huge amount of coordination with the Weather Man.

In F1, new rules and regulations, new cars, new engines to meet and comply with the 2010 season of racing. No stops for fuel, regulated tyre changes amongst some of the new rules that looks like it has the ingredients for making the racing boring in spite of Michael Schumacher’s return to F1 and the pace of the Force India cars.

KnK Karts are 10 years old and it has been a decade of mixed experiences. Looking back, we see a trail we are grateful to have been on for we believe we have arrived at the right destination.

2009 was a significant year for us at KnK. We made several positive steps in the direction of growing our facilities and capabilities to help us establish a firmer footing in the extremely competitive world of karting.

The end of the racing season always brings about changes and news. Some good, some not so…

Will the metamorphosis of regulations for Formula 1 see a one qualifying, two heat, one semi-final and one final, complete a race weekend?

We have been up to our necks in work with developments on several fronts and this has caused the delay with this newsletter.

It is motor sports season again and thank the heavens for it, after a long break the circus is back in town, with a new look! “A splendid time is guaranteed for all, and tonight Mr. Kite is topping the bill.”

In the early 80’s when Ozzy Osbourne recorded Slow down, I wonder if he knew how fitting his lyrics might be to us in 2009.

During these austere times nothing deserved the recognition and awards at the Oscars more than Slum dog Millionaire. Raising hopes and encouraging dreams, the movie created by lesser known artists and kids from the slums of Mumbai just seemed to provide the perfect ingredient. AR Rehman’s unusual and fascinating music creations turned focus to the fact there is room for new ideas and fresh faces to make it to the top in a field surrounded by the largest movie industry in the world, dominated by huge names. Call it the influence of dreams!!

A little after Honda announced it was pulling out of F1, Suzuki and Subaru followed with announcements of their decision to withdraw from the World Rally Championship. More recently Kawasaki announced that they will not field a team in Moto GP this year. The situation with motor sports is getting to be a matter of concern and many of the problems seem common to other disciplines of motor racing too, including karting.

Should we take note of Honda’s pull out from F1? Might there be other angles too? Let us ponder some of the questions that might be relevant to what is becoming of motor racing.

In case it read wrong, Aditya Patel had set the fastest time on the Mojo D1 tyre in practice in October 2005, up until then.

We have been very busy through July, which is the reason that this newsletter is delayed. Sorry!

On May 18th, Monica raced in the Toowoomba Challenge atnToowoomba with her JL 302 and finshed second and recorded the fastest lap in her class, the Clubman Light. Monica loves the JL302 and finds it easy to drive. She is impressed with the turn in of the chassis.

Our newsletter of October 2007 predicted that the motor sports scene in India would receive a shot in the arm from the involvement of Vijay Mallya in Formula 1 through the team

Indian cadet driver Arjun Maini drove to an excellent victory at the first round of the Asia Max Challenge (AMC) at Kota Bharu. Arjun showed just how strong he is going to be in the Rotax Micro Max class in his KnK Juvenile.

We are busy moving to a new location where we will build a new purpose built factory.There have been a few disruptions with supplies due to this but we hope to be back on stream soon from a temporary facility during the interim period. Communication channels remain the same:

We arrived in Malaysia when the Moto GP testing was in progress and spent two days at Sepang. To watch objects of this size hurtling out of corners and down the straight and then gracefully dropping to absurd angles while the riders felt the track with their knees was an unforgettable experience.

2007 ended on a sad note for Indian karting, a motorcycle mishap took away Robin Shroff, the MAI Administrator. Robin gave a certain face to Indian karting and gave the feeling of making the Indian ASN more approachable and easier to deal with than before. Many of the karting fraternity in India and the Asia Zone will miss him.

2007 has been a busy year at KnK. KnK karts were used in a new and very popular “single make” class of racing organized by MECO and sponsored by AMARON batteries. The Amaron Karting Challenge introduced thousands of school children in the junior and senior categories to kart racing. In 2008 MECO look set to add a cadet class to the popular AKC.

The first round of the MAI MRF INKC kicked off in a parking lot at the Cochin airport earlier this month. KnK racing’s Rotax senior driver Rayomand Banajee raced the KnK Integra under his team banner Speed Rayo Racing on a narrow track marked by tyre barriers .

As the racing season winds down we ponder on the year past.

The new compact KnK clutch is available for a variety of shaft sizes in inches as well as mm. It is based upon the original very reliable G1 three-shoe dry clutch which has been in use since 2001; the new clutch is built sturdier and more compact than its predecessor.

Final touches and testing new bits on the Annihilator have been rewarding. The new housing mounted brake and some other bits on the frame including a new spindle worked extremely well. The chassis handles very predictably and responds to the smallest of set up changes.

Ishaan of Karts ‘n’ Kitcars, makers of KnK Karts and Lahar were married on the 6th of this month. We have been busy, to put it mildly.

Jake and the new KnK Juvenile continue to impress. His recent wins were at Red Lodge, Wildtrack and Ellough Park. His already impressive haul of trophies this year says a lot.

Nikhil Kashyap Team KnK Racing Minimax driver is today a child idol. We have witnessed Nikhil transform to a level of confidence and achievement. Determined application of self-improvement - rigorous exercising and reading.

The first newsletter of 2007 has us looking forward to a great year of karting ahead. If you are visiting the Autosport International Racing Car Show at NEC, Birmingham, UK, from January 11th to 14th, you can see KnK Karts at the Conquest Technologies Ltd. stand in the Karting Area of the show.

The racing for the year ended on a happy note for KnK, the final round of the Rotax Challenge at Kolhapur in September had Ameya Walewalkar run away from the field in the Senior class and little Nikhil Kashyap finished a convincing second in Minimax.

After a wet Wednesday, Thursday looked like it might be dry. The track was alive with the sound of Rotax engines while tuners and drivers set about there karts looking for new settings for a circuit they had not driven on before.

It’s been a hectic month and we are sorry that this newsletter had to suffer for it.

During the off-season, we ran the Karting First (K1) Kartsmart training school for the KnK Racing Team – India (see newsletter NL 0206).

The off-season is always an interesting time for developmental work; a time to put to test all the different theories that bounce off the packing cases and karts in the paddock and echo down the fast draining beer glasses as the sun goes down each day.

After the Birmingham Kart Show in December 2005, KnK Karts were on display at the London NEC kart show in January this year.

Jake Mayes secured a first position at the Wild tracks circuit last month in the Honda Cadet class. Jake will now be moving to cadet class racing at the national level and everyone at KnK Karts wish him all success in the nationals in 2006.

England New race graphics individually identifies the KnK Integra World Formula kart, which earned itself a No. 2 plate for 2006 at a British MSA National event.

August 6th weekend - New driver Michael Dunston has joined Jake Mayes in the Honda Cadet class. Michael drove an excellent race considering he raced for the first time. Jake finished second in the Honda Cadet class in spite of a flat tyre in the finals.

Jake Mayes currently leads the Cadet class at Red Lodge Karting, he races the KnK Juvenile Cadet in the Honda Cadet class.

The first weekend of June we raced again in England. After winning in all the pre-final qualifying and heats Jake Mayes recorded his very first win in the Cadet class.

KnK Juvenile – Cadet 2/4 – The Honda Cadet is a popular class in the UK where most cadet drivers start their racing careers at club and national level meets.

India is gently making its presence felt in the international motor racing scene. Narain K’s very impressive debut into Formula 1 is recognised as the most promising amongst the rookie drivers this year, this says a lot. Karun Chandok and Arman Ebrahim are also showing great form and skill.

Karting in India is looking to grow beyond the boundaries that we have known so far. Narain (Kart he can) Kartikeyan making it into Formula 1 has suddenly increased the interest and improved Indian motor sport viewer ship many fold.
